After a year of absence the HomeSwimmer blog continues…

The HomeSwimmer recently received the endorsement of Olympic Gold Medalist, Josh Davis, who has regularly been using the HomeSwimmer system for the past three years as part of his strength training routine.

Josh Davis, who returned to the Olympics in Sydney, Australia in 2000 where he was elected Captain of the USA Men's swim Team, made history by becoming the only man in any sport from any nation at the Atlanta Olympic Games to win 3 gold medals. “I really credit the HomeSwimmer for my ability to break six Masters national records, and to make the Olympic tryouts at 35”, said Josh Davis. We are happy to announce that the HomeSwimmer System - is being used not only by residential swimmers but also by swimming athletes as a training tool. We recently received the following email from one of our nationally renowned swimming coaches:

“HomeSwimmer has been a great tool that we regularly add into our workouts. Our team uses up to eight HomeSwimmers at one time. We plant the anchors in the ground off the side of the pool, or tie off each unit from the starting blocks, depending upon the pool configuration for that day's workout. (They do not require any more than 2 lanes of space if used from the side.) While making technique our primary focus during the early part of the season, we place mirrors on the bottom of the pool below each swimmer. This gives each swimmer the unique opportunity to view themselves while the coach is on the deck providing perspective on individual stroke corrections.

As we head into the competitive season, as well as tapering, we use HomeSwimmer as a speed tool. Our training becomes repeated sets that comprise of one minute of hard swimming, with 30 seconds recovery. Using the HomeSwimmer as a resistance tool, really makes each swimmer dig into the water and force an early catch within each stroke as they fight to remain at the same point forward in the pool.

Launching a New Swimming Exercise Product

I have always enjoyed swimming but when we moved into our new home 5 years ago I could no longer swim regularly. Our pool was too small! One day my son came home form school announcing that he had a science fair project at his elementary school. He needed to come up with an innovative product. While brainstorming for an interesting project both my husband and son came up with the concept of our award-winning HomeSwimmer. They would invent a device that would enable our family to swim indefinitely without flipping or turning.

We wanted to invent a product that was portable, lightweight, inexpensive yet durable, that would allow residential pool owners, business travelers, and athletes to swim in any size pool. The HomeSwimmer will turn any pool into a fitness pool in less than 3 minutes! Our product enables swimmers stationary swimming.

After two years of product development our product was ready for market. In March 2006 I left my investment banking career to launch our stationary swimming product the HomeSwimmer! We visited numerous trade shows and were awarded product of the year by the iParenting Media Award and Best Product by the ISPO Brand New Awards in Germany.

Our product has been in the market for 18 months now and so far the feedback we have received from our customers has been truly encouraging. Unlike bungee cords our straps and stainless steel spring will not snap or wear with chlorinated water. We have several natatoriums and coaches using our swimming exercise product to train their swimmers some of them are triathletes while most are swimming afficionados that are swimming for an aquatic workout.

Launching a new product with a limited budget can be challenging. Since we are financing our HomeSwimmer solely with our savings our goal is to grow via word of mouth. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear from you.
